Industry standards and guidance based on local, current legislation form the key reference material for anyone wishing to implement the highest standards. They are frequently referred to by regulators wishing to identify good practice.

Chris Wraith has worked with regulators on a national and international platform, to assist, advise, comment and support, where appropriate, the development of MEWP related legislation and standards.
He is actively involved in national and international committees overseeing design, safe use and training standards for MEWPs. As chairman of BSI committee MHE12.1 – he is part of the UK committee for MEWP related British Standards and he leads the UK contribution to ISO/TC 214/WG 1 and CEN/TC 98/WG 1 standards work on MEWPs. This work has also enabled Chris to have direct input into other standards committee work including ANSI, Singapore Standards and Standards Australia.
As an active member of the Strategic Forum for Plant Safety – MEWP Safety Group, Chris was part of the drafting committee which has produced:

Chris has a vast amount of experience working with industry organisations federations such as IPAF, CPA and EWPA, leading various working groups he has been instrumental in the production of clear and concise MEWP related guidance including: Selection of secondary guarding devices, good practice for rental companies and contractors, Major inspection, MEWP security, Loading and unloading, Exiting at height, MEWPs in tree care work, Ground conditions, Familiarisation, Working near powerlines and Pre-use inspection checklists.
